Maci Joseph

Maci Joseph was a 2014 recipient of the Dot Sharpe scholarship. Since receiving the scholarship Maci has made significant strides toward adulthood. She is currently a senior at Howard University in Washington, DC. Her major is chemical engineering and she maintains a 3.72 GPA. During her first and second years, she served in numerous service and leadership positions within the Society of Women Engineers, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Girls Inc. DC and the National Society of Black Engineers. Guided by her education, her passion for service and leadership has known no bounds. Maci has also served as the Executive President of the College of Engineering and Architecture in her junior year while also serving as Secretary of the Society of Women Engineers. She currently serves as Recording Secretary for the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society DC Alpha chapter. Since high school graduation Maci was selected for an internship at Los Alamos National Laboratories in New Mexico. She was one of only a few freshmen chosen for this prestigious internship. In her sophomore year, she was selected for an internship at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, California. She served in this position after a 4-week research program at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar in Dakar, Senegal. During the fall semester of 2017, Maci was selected by ExxonMobil for their Future Leaders Academy. This resulted in an internship at the Houston, TX headquarters. Her merits academically have also been recognized by the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honor Society, Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society and lastly, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
